Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey are teaming up to produce a show about mental health and they are partnering with Apple for AppleTV+.
The announcement was made by the Duke of Sussex through his joint Instagram account with wife Meghan Markle on Wednesday. In the post, Prince Harry wrote that he and Winfrey are co-creating and co-producing a mental health series which will be launched on Apple in 2020, Vanity Fair reported.
It is said that the multi-part documentary series “will focus on both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive.”
Winfrey also commented about the upcoming show, saying she’s “delighted” to be partnering with Harry and hope that they “shed a lot of light” regarding the subject matter.
Prince Harry has long been an advocate of mental health. He previously spoke about his own struggles following the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Harry revealed that he had difficulty coping with the grief of losing his mother.
“My way of dealing with it was sticking in my head in the sand, refusing to ever think about my mom, because why would that help, it’s only going to make you sad, it’s not going to bring her back,” Harry said in the interview.
He added that for 20 years he shut down his emotions and wasn’t quite ready to deal with his mother’s death. He only reached out when he was older and with the support of his brother and the people around him.
